A HEALTHIER HOME

FOR OUR PETS

We adopted our little rescue dog, Wifi, from the Palm Springs Animal Shelter, and it remains the best decision we’ve ever made since moving here to the desert. This community has a great love for its four legged community members, and we strive to keep them safe and healthy, as well as any four legged tourists who come to enjoy our city.

  • Invest money to properly maintain and update our animal resources.

  • Increase the number of dog parks in the city, and expand on the maintenance of the existing dog parks.

  • Increase the capacity of our animal shelter.

  • Work with the Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism Bureau to place information in all lodging sites about access to dog parks, safety issue campaigns (like hot paws), pet friendly eateries, and other attractions.

  • Create safe environments for our animals by enhancing access to up-to-date information, through the city website or social media platforms, regarding public programs and services, health warnings, and community social activities for our pets.

  • Create a city-wide digital space for lost and found pets.

  • Update all of our city ordinances pertaining to animals.

  • Work with the Palm Springs Animal Shelter on locating resources for developing a 24 hour emergency pet clinic. Most pet owners in Palm Springs who are in need of immediate emergency care for their pets have to travel to Indio for treatment.

  • Help the Palm Springs Animal Shelter combat overcrowding by developing creative ways of reaching wider audiences to find forever homes for animals that are currently in their care.
